Barbaran’s Verduzzo is a fine wine made from 100 percent Verduzzo friulano grapes, carefully cultivated in the charming Podere San Giuseppe production area in Zenson di Piave, Treviso. The vines, dating from the old planting in 1970, grow on medium-textured soils, adopting a Sylvoz training system and a planting density of 2,500 vines per hectare.
The Heart of Verduzzo Barbaran
Harvesting, which takes place from the second half of September, is done by hand to ensure the highest quality of the grapes. Vinification begins with soft pressing and cold static decantation of the must. Primary fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled steel vessels (18-20°C) using selected yeasts. Afterwards, the wine rests on its lees for about 3 months, contributing to its aromatic complexity.
The Secret of Verduzzo Barbaran
After being made clear, Barbaran’s Verduzzo is bottled and allowed to rest for 4 to 6 weeks in the cellar. The result is a wine with a deep straw-yellow color, characterized by a pleasant amiability and a distinctive, delicate aroma with hints of acacia flowers and notes of honey. On the palate, the wine offers good body, harmony and balanced freshness. The taste is fruity, moderately tannic and typically amiable.
